Principal Consultant & Founder
Tom Hobbs has spent more than 30 years solving technology problems that most organizations don't know they have until it's too late. As the founder of Hobbs Consulting Group, he works with leadership teams at mid-market firms across firms — most often the COO, CFO, or whoever owns the intersection of business risk and operational decisions — to establish AI governance and surface the security and compliance gaps that keep the wrong people up at night — delivering a clear, prioritized roadmap in 90 days, without the cost or commitment of a full-time IT executive.
The idea for Hobbs Consulting Group didn't come from a business plan. It came from watching organizations everywhere rush headlong into AI adoption with almost no thought given to what that actually means for their data, their clients, or their exposure. The bad actors aren't standing still — they're using the same tools, and they're good at it. Tom saw a gap between the speed of AI adoption and the maturity of the governance around it, and decided he was in a position to do something about it.
That position is the product of three decades of leading IT infrastructure and operations across some of the most compliance-heavy environments in business — healthcare, financial services, insurance, and professional services. He's guided organizations through HIPAA, PCI, and ISO compliance, built cloud migration strategies, managed MSP relationships, and spent years translating complex technology risk into plain language for leadership teams who needed clarity, not jargon. For most of his career, being the person others called when they were stuck wasn't a job title — it was just Tuesday.
Outside the office, Tom is a husband, father of seven, and grandfather of seven, which he'll tell you is the best job he's ever had. A Northeast Ohio native who relocated to Atlanta in 2000, he spent 38 years coaching middle school football — including five state championship game appearances and three title wins — before hanging up his whistle after the 2023 season. If you're looking for someone who understands how to build a team, execute under pressure, and stay calm when the stakes are high, well, he's had some practice.
Tom lives in Acworth, Georgia with his wife and is actively working with professional services firms ready to get serious about AI governance and technology strategy.
